Genesis: Creation, Blessing and Curse
Genesis is perhaps the most important book in the Bible. It has caused more fascination and
more speculation than any other piece of literature. As the first book of the Bible, it is the book
of “beginnings.” In fact, its name is taken from the first three words, “In the beginning.” It
speaks to the origin of the universe, mankind and the Jewish race and nation. It explains how
human beings went from an existence of incredible divine blessing to being tragically cursed. It
is the foundation for all things we know – matter, energy, life, marriage, family, society,
morality, Law, the seven-day week and God’s redemptive plan as worked out through the
